As outlined in our Curriculum, to graduate from the FGAD you must accredit a minimum of 200 hours of pre-professional internships. In this section, we present everything you need to know in this regard.

First and foremost, pre-professional internships constitute a formative stage that prepares you for your integration into professional life.

We recommend undertaking pre-professional internships from the 7th semester onwards, given that upon completing your first year in the Faculty, you will have adapted to the academic pace and explored your areas of interest across the program's coursework. These elements will enable you to better focus on securing an internship placement aligned with your professional aspirations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What must I do to accredit my first pre-professional internship?
You can review the pre-professional internship accreditation process here:
https://facultad.pucp.edu.pe/gestion-direccion/estudiante/empleabilidad/

If I have an entrepreneurial venture, can I validate it as an internship?
Personal ventures may be validated provided that the following requirements are met: submission of the RUC registration document (minimum of 6 months of operations), an essay written by the student reflecting on how they applied their competencies, and finally, a sworn statement.

If my pre-professional internship agreement is for 20 hours per week, will I be able to accredit my internship upon the conclusion of my agreement?
Pre-professional internship agreements cover a work schedule of up to a maximum of 30 hours per week. If you are completing 20 hours per week, your agreement must span at least 2 and a half months, given that accrediting your internship requires a cumulative total of at least 200 hours worked.

Can I accredit a pre-professional internship through my participation in a volunteer program/internship?
For volunteer work to be accredited as a pre-professional internship, it must meet the following requirements:

  • It must take place in a formally established institution.
  • You must have a learning plan and a direct supervisor for your volunteer duties.
  • Your supervisor must be a qualified professional.

Additionally, you must fulfill the other requirements stipulated by the FGAD: register the agreement and the learning plan, complete the monitoring and completion surveys, and ensure your supervisor/line manager completes the Performance Evaluation Form.

Can I complete my pre-professional internship at my family business?
In order to validate your pre-professional internship at your family business, the following requirements must be met:

  • The company must have at least 6 months of operations (submit the RUC registration document).
  • Your internship certificate must be signed by the legal representative of the company.

Additionally, you must fulfill the other requirements stipulated by the FGAD: register the agreement and the learning plan, complete the monitoring and completion surveys, and ensure your supervisor/line manager completes the Performance Evaluation Form.

Can I undertake my pre-professional internship at an organization abroad?
Yes, it is feasible. To do so, it is essential that you inform the Faculty prior to your departure or the start of your internship. Please send an email detailing this internship opportunity to sacademica.fgad@pucp.edu.pe.

What happens if I do not complete the required 200 hours under my first agreement?
If your internship agreement is short and you do not complete the 200 hours, or if you choose to resign from an internship before completing them, it is possible to accumulate hours from two agreements. To do so, you must have completed the registration process for each agreement and answered both the monitoring and completion surveys for each internship host. Likewise, the supervisor for each internship must have completed the performance evaluation form.
PLEASE NOTE: When completing the “Professional Internship Accreditation Procedure,” you must attach the certificates from both internship hosts.

If the designated deadline to complete the monitoring survey has passed, what can I do?
The monitoring survey may still be completed after the deadline. However, it is recommended that it be completed during the second month of the internship.

If I resign before the expiration of my internship agreement, can I accredit my hours?
Yes. For example, if your agreement is for 6 months and you decide to resign after 3 months, you can accredit your hours worked provided that you fulfill all the required steps.
Important: You must submit your letter of resignation to the document registry office (Mesa de Partes).

Can I take the Seminar 2 course without having validated my internship?
Yes, you may. However, please remember that one of the requirements for graduation is the accreditation of 200 internship hours. We advise against waiting until your final year to begin your internship search.

If my internship agreement is renewed for additional months, at what point should I complete the required surveys?
The monitoring survey is completed only once per internship host and must be submitted 2 months after starting your internship. As for the completion survey, you should submit it only once, upon the conclusion of your final agreement (renewal).

For example, if you signed an agreement for 3 months and it is renewed for an additional 6 months, you should complete the monitoring survey by the second month. Upon the completion of the ninth month, you may submit the completion survey. In other words, it is not necessary to fill out two completion surveys.

I have a formal payroll employment contract; can I accredit my pre-professional internship hours through it?
Yes, this is possible. To do so, instead of submitting the agreement and learning plan, you must submit your employment contract, which will be reviewed by the FGAD to verify that your duties align with your academic training in the management program. Additionally, you must complete both the monitoring and completion surveys, and your supervisor must fill out the Performance Evaluation Form.

I have already accredited my pre-professional internship, I am still an undergraduate student, and I have secured a new internship position. What steps should I follow?
The registration process for your new agreement remains the same. In accordance with current legal regulations, you must complete both the monitoring survey and the completion survey. Likewise, it is recommended that your direct supervisor completes the performance evaluation form.
